Key West Conchs Varsity Pitches Well, but Can’t Find Enough Runs in Loss to Gulliver Prep

Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but Gulliver Prep was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Key West Conchs Varsity on Wednesday. Kyle Iarrobino started the game for Key West Conchs Varsity and recorded 11 outs.

Key West Conchs Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Will Anderson drove in one run when he singled.

In the bottom of the second inning, Gulliver Prep tied things up at one.

Gulliver Prep took the lead for good with one run in the third inning.

Kevin Maura earned the win for Gulliver Prep. He pitched five innings, surrendering one run, two hits, and striking out six. Jacob Marcos recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Gulliver Prep. Kyle Iarrobino took the loss for Key West Conchs Varsity. He threw three and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs, five hits, and striking out two.

Anderson and Andrew Karch each drove in one run to lead Key West Conchs Varsity. Key West Conchs Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Christian Luna made the most plays with five.

Gulliver Prep collected eight hits. Adrian Del Castillo, CJ Calero, and Andres Machado each collected multiple hits for Gulliver Prep. Gulliver Prep was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Calero had the most chances in the field with seven.
